Essential Oils and labels

Are labels important! Yes if you want good quality essential oils. There are lots of essential oils out there and I really knew nothing about essential oils. In looking at labels for essential oils I used a Young Living label. Highest quality essential oils have this information listed. Not listed take another look, perhaps the essential oil might have been adulterated or could be an indicator of an essential oil of lower quality.

Here is what is on the Young Living Essential Oil Cypress Label

Directions clearly spelled out – 2-4 drops directly to desired area. Dilution not required, except for sensitive skin. Use as directed. Aromatic – Diffuse up to 1 hr. 3x daily.

Safety precautions right on label – Caution! Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or have a medical condition consult a health professional prior to use. Good memory refresher and a reminder that safety precautions always should be followed.

Flammable – Do not use near fire, flame, heat or sparks. Do not store above room temperature.

Scientific name listed Young living Cypress – 100% pure therapeutic grade, essential oil 0.5 fl. oz (15 Ml). Ingredients – Cupressus Sempervivens’ (Cypress) leaf/nut/stem oil – 100% pure, therapeutic -grade essential oil.

Storage keep in cool dark place.

Life in your home!

Written January 2020 Updated 9/14/21

Sometimes poor is a state of mind and other times we just don’t know how to manage our money and lives. How to say no!  We slide from one mess to another instead of taking time to focus on cleaning up one mess, before getting into another one.  Some families give the appearance, as do their children of being very wealthy, when they are living off credit cards, owe everyone, are scared to death of what the next day is going to bring.

Remind your children, grandchildren, stepchildren,  what they have to be grateful about such as:

A family that stays together, even when the going gets so tough.

A chance to pray! Reflect! Meditate.

A roof over their heads.  Utilities that are paid so you have heat in the winter, and are able to be cool in the summer.

A chance to save if you have a job.  Get a savings plan started so you will feel rich when you see how it has grown. It is called savings, savings, and savings.

Food on the table.

Pets and more pets and then more pets.

Clothing, maybe not the most expensive, but why would you want expensive anyway, in a couple of months you will have grown and need new outfits.

Friends who are allowed to come to your house.

Love from parents and grandparents .Love can be defined in many ways. Love may not be visable at all times but it is there.

Exercise, ride bicycles, help with laundry, keep the house clean  or work in the yard. Don’t forget to shovel the snow when it arrives. Don’t wait to be asked.

Journal about the above, what works and why it worked.

One day at a time!

Empower, what an electric word.

While I think it is very important to empower men, women, individuals, young adults I always wonder what is going on with peoples live’s behind the scenes. Where are they at in this journey we call life and what is one is willing to change.

Were you part of the peaceful protests held recently ? Or were you part of the looting, wrecking of businesses, injuring of people? What did that prove, how did that help the murdered black man and changing our society that needs to be done? How can you call yourself an adult? How did that go to improve the situation and what is your conscience telling you?

What happens to our black community is really sad and what has happened to our police force in some communities is also sad. Society, all of us included need to change our thinking on many topics. We have all heard and seen things over the years that we knew were not right. Not having a police force would be catastrophic as proven by the rioting we have seen recently. Do changes need to be made, absolutely and what are you going to do to help make things better?

Empower what does that word mean to you? Word defined in Webster’s New American Dictionary is-to give authority or power to; also enable.

Dreaming about empowerment means working hard to achieve the goals you have set for yourself and understanding it will take time to get to where you want to be. Add to your goals the question- what can I do to help change our world?

Think about the following:

Educate yourself, so you can understand what is going on in our government, our states and cities.

Do some volunteer work and talk with the people you are trying to help. What are their real problems and issues. How can you help them make changes.

Show respect for one and other.

Know what your teenagers are doing and where your teenagers are . Talk with them, listen to them, try very hard to set a good example.

Start now, taking one day at a time.

Your personal health! How are you doing with it.

As we start to emerge from our #social isolation of the last 7 weeks, some #fascinating thoughts are running through my head. Is your health better, worse or about the same? I am not talking just about your #physical health, but also about your #mental health. Have you picked up some #bad habits or are you pretty much on target with where you want to be?

Me, for instance I asked the doctor to give me 6 months and I would take off 10 lbs. I am pleased to announce that I have taken off #weight, 18 lbs but it has taken me 8 months. Here is the real struggle ahead – can I stay away from potato chips ? That is really challenge for me, because I have always loved my chips.

Here are some soul searching questions to pose to yourself. Just because you are a young adult, does not mean you are healthy. Maybe there are circumstances in your life no one is aware of, that consistently play havoc with your well being?

Do you take care of your #health on a regular basis?

Do you go in for your #preventive visits and listen to what your physician is telling you?

Are you reluctant to step on the scale at the #physician’s office? Do you need to go on a diet? A real diet that has daily limits, calorie counts, and helps you to understand what carbohydrates are, both the good & the bad. Why you need protein, fat etc.

Do you exercise? Even if it is walking short distances?

Are you open with your physician and share with her or him what is really bothering you?

Are you evasive about answering your physician when you are embarrassed by a personal question?

Are you in an abusive relationship and unsure what to do next? Do you know where to get professional help.

Do you know where to go to get answers that will help you? Are you willing to follow up with the suggestions your physician makes?

Do you brush your teeth?

Do you see your dentist on a regular basis for cleanings, x-rays and preventive maintenance?

Braces? Do you use your retainer as instructed by the orthodontist?

Think about those situations you find yourself in, regarding #mental and#physical health issues. Action is to be proactive and positive.

Senior’s, high school? or older population?

Looking for some nice, informational pins as they related to senior’s on Pinterest . I really need to be very specific in my wording as the site I was sent to was definitely for Senior’s. Those graduating from high school. That was wonderful, but my brain was on the senior population.

Browsing this category I came across 2 informational pins about seniors, the aging population. One was labeled ARE you over 65? and the other one was titled, Lung Disease? Cancer? Heart Disease? Over 65? Both were promoted by the AD Council and sent me to very nice, educational website called Coronavirus (COVID-19) CDC FEMA,

All in all my searching was not a waste of time. I learned two things always be very specific#thorough#expressive when looking for a topic . Also re-educated myself on what is going on in this very tricky time in our world.

I hope everyone is staying safe and following the guidelines laid out for all of us. Take care and God Bless.

Have to add a bit about my Essential Oils, Come back and visit again.

Essential Oils and a quiz

Sharing blends with others has been very interesting. A wonderful adventure taken willingly and it has become a great learning experience. The benefits I have seen with some are great. They tell how their pain has improved and they also tell me when they have not had any results.

Talking further I find many people do not use their essential oils as they should or they use them once or twice and stop instead of working with the roller ball blend for a while to see if the essential oil blend will actually help you. Not cure you but help you feel better.

So here is my quiz. Perhaps you would not call it a quiz, but they are things I believe it is essential for you to know:

  • Can you get an irritation or reaction to an essential oil?
    • Yes, it important that you test a small area on your skin before applying the oil on a large area.
  • Will an essential oil, single or blend that works for another person work for you?
    • Maybe, maybe not. What helps one person may not always help another person. If one does not work you keep trying until you find a blend or single essential oil that helps.
  • Can essential oils be taken orally?
    • Some can, but many cannot. You always need to understand how your blend or single essential oil can be used. Get yourself a small book and put down the information you learn about each essential oil, so you don’t forget.
  • Where should your essential oils be kept?
    • They always need to be kept in a dark cool place.
  • Can you use essential oils on children under the age of 2?
    • My experience is that many people say no, however not everyone feels that way. Before using an essential oil on a child, discuss with a professional and see if they might agree. If so try on a child’s foot.’ Caution should be used .

Five facts in my quiz you may not have known before about essential oils. We could add several more but need to see if there is any interest in this type of information.

Shingles, no I am not talking about roofing shingles!

Husband started complaining of pain in his arm and chest area and feeling very weak. His pain tolerance is good, so we all (family) became concerned. Took him to the emergency room on Friday night (2 weeks ago) and every test they did came back, ok. The physician thought maybe it could be cellulitis.

Cellulitis is a common and sometimes painful bacterial skin infection. It may first appear as a red, swollen area that feels hot and tender to the touch. The redness and swelling can spread quickly. It most often affects the skin of the lower legs, although the infection can occur anywhere on a person’s body or face. http://www.healthline.com>health>cellulitis.

We were sent home with husband on an antibiotic. The following Wednesday he was in such pain he could barely stand it and I noticed the start of a rash on his chest. We then went to our physician and he said you have SHINGLES!. Oh boy what a shock. First thing asked did you have the shingles vaccine? Yes he did, but it was the older vaccine, not the one they recommend now. Apparently the older vaccine was not as effective as the one currently being given.

Shingles -The virus that causes shingles, varicella zoster virus (VZV) can spread from a person with active shingles and cause chickenpox in someone who had never had chickenpox or received chickenpox vaccine.

VZV spreads through direct contact with fluid from the rash blisters.

Most people who develop shingles have only one episode during their lifetime. However, you can get the disease more than once.

A person with active shingles can spread the virus when the rash is in the blister-phase. You are not infectious before the blisters appear. Once the rash crusts, you are no longer infectious.

VZV from a person with shingles is less contagious than the virus from someone with chickenpox. The risk of spreading the virus is low if you cover the shingles rash.

To prevent spreading VZV to others:

  • Cover the rash.
  • Avoid touching or scratching the rash.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Avoid contact with the following people until your rash crusts:
    • pregnant women who have never had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine;
    • premature or low birth weight infants; and
    • people with weakened immune systems, such as people receiving immunosuppressive medications or undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, and people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
  • The information on shingles came from http://www.cdc.gov>shingles>about transmission
  • Content source: National Center for Immunization & Respiratory Diseases, Division of Viral Diseases. Page last reviewed July 1, 2019.

The pain and itching are very very bad with shingles. On a scale of 1-10 as my husband says the pain itself is at least a 7 or higher. Most of the time higher. The itching on a scale of 1-10 is at least a 15. He has had a miserable couple of weeks so far. The rash is finally scabbing. He has done lots of resting, drinking fluids, taking pain medicine and an antiviral medication. Recovery can be slow and each case is different.

Check with your physician when you are getting near retirement age about the shingles vaccine. Educate yourself. Usually younger adults do not get shingles, but apparently that has been changing in the past few years.
