How is your life treating you?

This last month has been challenging to say the least. You just think you are getting things a bit more organized and then you realize how much more you have to do. Now the decision is what should you do next? Nothing! Tackle a small job!! Work each day on keeping things more organized!!! This is on you. How are you going to move forward?

You can write another list with numbers according to their importance and assign them or you could put assignments on straws and have family members draw a straw and be responsible for getting that chore done. You could try putting projects that need to be done in a box and have family members draw an assignment. Problem is some assignments may be tougher than others.

Halloween went by in a flash and Thanksgiving is running to meet us. Black Friday is being toted every day. It almost makes you feel like you need to put on roller skates to keep up. Everyone is having sales and more sales.

I remember when we all started Christmas preparation, not before Halloween, but after Thanksgiving letting families enjoy Thanksgiving . The weather would be starting to change. Originally coming from Iowa, I remember Thanksgiving with snow. It was so exciting. Maybe the Holidays were hectic, and only the good things remain in my memory bank.

What about a time out day! ! Even half a day Time out from everything related to a schedule, errands, work, school etc. Only relaxing fun things can be done on that day. OK, we probably have to put a time limit on that or the whole family will rebel.

Here are some suggestions for you:

Make your home smell enchanting . Purchase a diffuser and some essential oils that makes you like relax, such as lavender. Then relax.

Find someone to watch your little ones for a morning or afternoon. You will then pay them back so they can take a time out day.

Think, do you want a bubble bath, or would you rather go to a yoga class? Do you want a massage to work the kinks out of your neck and shoulders. Don’t forget the guys here maybe they want a day out also.

Maybe you just want to take a nap without interruption, listen to some nice music or read a good book. Treat yourself to lunch out. Do something spontaneous without worrying about having to pick someone up, take someone to a doctor visit etc.

Think how refreshed you will feel and you can begin again with renewed energy and confidence.

Essential Oils, a journal would nice.

Considering giving essential oils a try? It is alot of fun and certainly benficial to some. It all depends on what you are hoping to achieve.

I began using essential oils very slowly and now I’m really excited about learning more. Knew absolutely little about essential oils. Now use a diffuser with lavender at night to help sleep better. Some nights it works absolutely wonderful for me, but on other nights doesn’t work at all. Why?

Does the difference lie in what kind of a day, I had? Lazy and relaxed or very hectic with lots of stress? A day where nothing gets done? I honestly don’t know but since I don’t have small children I can’t use that as a stressor.

No matter what I want to continue to work and learn about essential oils. Work with people who are trying essential oils to find out if they are getting any good benefits . So I have an essential oil journal that I hope will help us all determine how and what essential oils benefit us and even why.

Fall is a good time to begin using essential oils as there are many essential oils that smell lovely and this is such a fun time of year for scents.

Think about using this Essential Oil Journal and see what you can find out:

  • Name of essential oil
  • date started
  • How many times a day are you using the oil?
  • Benefit of essential oil to you or person using it.
Includes cover, 2 sheets for benefits of oil, and 2 sheet for blends.

Stress, Are you stressed or not?

Updated from 2019

How do you define stress? How do you handle stress in your life? Do you recognize it?

Do you consider the following signs of stress:

Bitting your nails?

Overeating?

Unable to sleep?

Are you motivated to change.

I am an over eater. Not the eat healthy things, good for you types of food, but things like chips, candy and desserts. Food like noodles and potatoes. Good old comfort food.

OK you recognize yourself, a bit in what I am saying and know some type of plan is needed to change. A terrific, fabulous, entertaining, well I am going a bit overboard on this plan of action here.

Begin by what you consider setting some reasonable goals for example, instead of losing 10 lbs this next month, try for 5 lbs. Your goal is to really focus on keeping the weight o

Get the junk good out of the house. Keep your menu’s simple.

Don’t try the diet of the month or the most expensive diet. Try salads and more vegetables, but do things in moderation.

You can find menu’s listed in almost every book, magazine, on every cooking show. Find and do menu’s that you like and re-do them as you work toward your one small goal.

Stay motivated, keep it simple, be thankful for small improvements. Remove stress slowly, lose weight if that is what you want or just begin to feel better overall. One day at a time

Support! For a diet thought or two!

Originally written 7/25/2019 Updated 7/15/2021

Diet, oh no not again. However it is something that is very serious for many people. It’s not that you don’t want to lose weight, you do. You know what people, even family, say to your face or behind your back. So it is time to take the bull by it’s horns and begin all over again.

There are diets, numerous diets and diet plans all over the internet, in magazine, on television, in books. You name it and there is a diet for it. Some are fads and should really be checked out before you run out and buy all kinds of things you will probably not use. Expensive things that will just sit in your cupboard.

What would you do if your physician, health care provider said you must go on a special diet? Maybe he or she has said this more than once, but serious time is here. Health issues are becoming complicated . Maybe it is not you personally that needs the diet, but one of your family members. So what happens next:

Begin walking to help you relax, stay movitated and think about the following:

Do you make the appointment for the diet consultation or does your physician’s office do that? Many physician’s offices, health care provider’s office’s will set up the initial visit for you.

What is your understanding of why the consultation is needed. Has your health care provider explained this well to you?

Be prepared with questions about the diet you are going to be following . If you don’t understand something, ask more questions.

Who does most of the cooking at your home? The grocery shopping? That family member needs to go to the appointment with you. If this is a child needing a special diet, make sure if they are old enough, they can ask questions and understand what is going on.

Families have to be involved also, as what the family is going to be eating may not always be liked by everyone. Resentment can set in.

Family member on the diet has a big job to do also.Thankful that the family is helping, willing to get on board with the diet and not negative when the food is put on the table.

Thank you, a big thank you to the person involved in the cooking. Be helpful not resentful.

Support is the key word here. Get involved in a support group. Help plan meals. Be compliant with the diet.

Negativity, moving ahead to appreciate yourself.

The definition of negativity. is habitual skepticism. A skeptic is a person who questions or doubts something. A person who often questions or doubts things. If it is constant are your friends saying to you, why are you so negative? Maybe you don’t consider yourself negative, just a questioner.

How can you change? It is not easy for someone who has a negative, always questioning, sour look on life to change. Sometimes they really resent what other people say to them about changing. If you want to change you have to look at yourself

Do you find people are starting to avoid you? Is your personality bracing? Do you find negative statements come out of your mouth and you think now why did I say that. Negativity can be hurtful without your meaning it to be.

Here are some things you might want to try to change your attitude toward people in general:

Think before you speak!

Learn from others how to express yourself more positively.

Say a small prayer daily for some help in changing. Something like- Please help me today, Lord to say things in a more positive manner! I want to change, but need some help. Amen

Journal what happens as you travel the path toward positivity. Really use the journal. List the negativity you, yourself felt. Don’t sugar coat things. Add what to do differently in the future.

In social gatherings is there a dead silence af!ter you say something?

Appreciate yourself today and everyday written 10/22/20. Thought it might be useful here.

Waking up on a dark and gloomy day you are already wishing that the bright days of summer were still with us. It is raining also but that is ok as we really do need it. You cast your view around your home as you are getting ready for work and think, oh boy, oh boy, a fast pick might make you feel better. Then you think, oh well everything will be waiting patiently for me when I get home.

Your plan for the future ,work harder on getting really organized, so you can look in the mirror and say I am really going to work on this. You have this wonderful idea appreciate me now and every day. So how are you going to do that, think, think and then think some more. Look around you and start to plan. Maybe you could consider this a business plan for yourself. Consider yourself the business that you want to update, feel better about, be thought of as innovative, creative and charming.

Caregiver

Care giver definition, a family member or paid helper who regularly looks after a child or a sick, elderly or disabled person. Found this definition online . Short and sweet.

Do you find that you are the care giver in your family? If so it is prudent to remember to wear your extra hats when undertaking any extra curricular activities, such doctor appointments, surgeries, and other specific calendar dates. Children in the family puts another hat on the caregiver.

Whatever your responsibilities in your job, you have to recognize you signed on for them. Job can be defined in many ways. You may be single, married , divorced, a religious, a medical person yourself, and you have to decide what your role is going to be.

I just finished a blog on organization and how important organization is to what is going on in your life. As a care giver I find organization very helpful to what happens next in our lives. Then there are days when I could care less.

The following is a list that I have added to a caregiver’s role.

  • Clothes available for appointments
  • Laundry kept up
  • Meals planned ahead – That I do not do well
  • If you have a job be sure and check with your boss about times off and how you will make up the time.
  • Take time to relax.
  • When going to appointments be sure you have the paper work done and take a medication list with you. Take your insurance cards with you just in case.
  • When visiting a new physician be sure you have the names and telephone numbers of the other physicians involved in the care of the patient.

Exercise! Exercise, good old exercise.

Again, EXERCISE the word of the year when you think about it. What with all our isolation this last winter, many of us found solace in watching movies and snacking binges. Especially potato chips. However now is the time where as the old saying goes –its time for the rubber to hit the road. I want to share with those of you who remained slim and trim a big Hurrah! Job well done!

We see all these ads on television about losing weight and they did it so can we. They are right but we have to be incentivized to get moving and motivated. Also we know that if we lose the weight that is just the beginning. We have to keep it off and that is a tough job. A never ending job for some of us.

So with summer right around the corner, and everyone wanting new bathing suits some action has to be taken. This action can not be I will work hard for two weeks and see what happens, it has to be a lifestyle change. It means purging the cupboards and the refrigerator.

I have spent a lot of time in waiting rooms lately and it is truly amazing the number of overweight people. Not just a little bit. We all have some work to do. So what can we honestly begin to do a little at a time to begin to make a difference?

EXERCISE is the key word and I don’t mean running a mile, or going to a gym and using all the machine for an hour. Groaning as you get off the last machine and try to just walk.

BEGIN EXERCISING SLOWLY.

Walk leisurely from your home to the corner of your block or around the block .

Increase your pace slowly. Time yourself. At first you will think , I must have been out here at least 20 min. Of course you have only been walking for ten minutes and you are dragging.

Patience, patience, being consistent and lengthening your time walking slowing in the beginning will start to pay off.

Click on Selections from barb resource library. You will need a password HELEN. There is a simple Exercise Scheduler there for you. It is really basic. Just had a thought instead of checking that you walked on a certain day, just add how long you walked, even if it is only 5 min. Add it.

What we EAT is for another day. We know we need to begin to look at what we are eating. For now just stop snacking and start to walk .

Tension, stress and anxiety!

Updated blog originally named Essential Oils can they relieve stress?

Essential Oils can they help relieve tension, stress, and that anxious feeling that is always hovering about your head like a black cloud? What a good question and of course the answer is up to you and how you feel about essential oils and whether or not you are up for learning about their benefits or maybe no benefit for you.

Think about the following as you move along here

essential oils and my health!

essential oils and my bettering my health!

essential oils and furthering your knowledge of essential oils!

essential oils and understanding how to use!

We all have times where the above, tension, stress, and anxiety are prominent in our lives. How about right before that first big date, or when you are getting ready for a test, or the interview where you have to do a video first before anyone human will even talk with you. How about this one, you are going to take your driver’s test for the first time and all of a sudden your mind goes blank. Remember your wedding where everyone else was so tense and you just wanted everything to be over with.

The world of essential oils is here for you to venture into, to see if they might improve some of the above situations and help you

Here are a few essential oils that may help with your stress and tension:

Angelica Essential Oil – Has a calming aroma – You can diffuse it, dilute it or apply it directly to the skin. Helichrysum Essential Oil – Diffuse while doing homework. – Can diffuse it, directly inhale or apply topically Spearmint Essential Oil – Uplifts and calms. Can diffuse it, directly inhale or dilute and apply to the skin.

These are just three of the essential oils that might help you. Remember always check with your physician , if you are on medications, and follow the safety rules , i have written about in my other essential oil blogs. Less is always better, than more when using oils.

Sense of Rushing?

Does anyone else feel like there is a sense of rushing, rushing in the world, even in the blogging world? Everyone is pushing themselves to develop new ideas, designs, blogs, lists , calendars, to keep us all on our toes . I applaud those of you who are fantastic in these areas and hit the right buttons at the right time. No one can say there isn’t enough information out there to learn everything possible. The good, the not so good and the wonderful.

No one can say that bloggers are uncaring, don’t understand what you are going through, never had to work as hard as you do, never had to work a full time job, never had financial troubles , never had their feelings hurt, never had their writing criticized . The reason you can’t say they (bloggers) are uncaring is because it isn’t true and you know it, especially if you have researched any of your favorite, fantastic, fabulous, friendly, famous bloggers.

Right now stop that feeling of rushing, relax and take a step back.

Ask yourself just exactly you are trying to accomplish for yourself and your family:

Begin all over again with the organization thing.

Take one thing at a time, limit buying courses until you see what you have and what you really need?

Have you purchased anything related to organization, stress relief, taking things slowly while you reflect on what you are trying to do?

Hope this blog has helped you some and that you might find some benefit in following me.
