Coffee cups, tea cups with lots of funny, loving sayings. Start a gift basket with a couple of cups.

A gift of fun. Start with a cup or two with a great saying on it. One of my favorite cups is the one that says – Mom, no matter what life throws at you, at least you don’t have ugly children. How about the one that says Daddy, I may find my prince, but you will always be my KING.

Start a gift basket with any two mugs for your parents, grandparents, an always there friend. Pick out your font and the text you want. Add some of the following to your basket: coffee and tea, or hot chocolate, sweeteners and creams, a soft cuddly blanket, a good book and a wonderful movie.

Stockings by the fireplace or where ever! Fill with love.

Stockings hung by the fireplace, stockings hung on the bedpost, stockings hung on a chair. Where they are hung and what they mean may differ in other areas of the world, but to a child they are part of the mystery associated with holidays and so much fun.

Stockings with Santa’s on them, or maybe angels, stockings with their face looking back at them. Stockings that have been knitted with care. Counted cross stockings that have taken hours, and hours to make. I have even seen stockings hung made with left over material from quilts, each piece of material a memory for a family member.

What kind of gifts to buy, inexpensive, but thought filled. Maybe stuffed with homemade items that bring back a special event for the person involved. Home made ornaments to put on the tree or a small scrapbook filled with wonderful enchanting pictures to be kept for years and years. Some different candy or cookies .

Pretty pair of tights, warm socks or a new pair of mittens. Walk the aisles of the stores and look for fun things that you can fill stockings with, without having to break your bank.

Enjoy the upcoming holidays. Plan now. Become crafty if you have to. I just made a hanging towel for the stove. Only jammed the sewing machine once and cut my hand, but the outcome is worth it . Towel is cute. More decorative, than for wiping hands on . Going to make a few more to share with others.

Hpe you had a fun fun fall break in your area. Comments appreciated. Follow me in this journey of blogging.

Gifts for anytime, Christmas, birthday or just for fun.

Here we are in October and the temperature in our town has been hovering around 90 for the last few days. We have had to keep the air running to be comfortable. When there is a breeze we are delighted, but time is marching on. Here are some neat gift ideas for any time of the year, but we don’t want to miss out on the holiday season.

Small but nice gift. Stocking stuffer or part of a gift basket?

Gift exchange idea, another stocking stuffer or nice birthday wow.

Pearls , how wonderful and unique. Bet a matching necklace would bring a smile and a hug.

Garden Clean Up – Autumn

Fall coming and beautiful colors will be seen. The gorgeous colors of the fall mums, Idian corn, a huge array of pumpkins and the beautiful leaves on the trees. However along with that comes a reminder that garden clean up is here also. When deciding how to clean your garden think about being sustainable, affordable and efficient or hiring an outside service.

Fall Garden chores can require an array of tools and supplies to be executed properly. Whether it be raking leaves, composting, cleaning gutters, weatherizing beds, or planting spring bulbs, a variety of sustainable products exist for these tasks! Short on time and money? There are plenty of quick and affordable options as well!

Sustainable Garden Clean-Up

Several comments on this Envirocycle composter from words like elegant, cute, adorable and incredible. Composter is small, efficient, easy to put together (take out of box, set barrel on base. No critter problems. Company stands behind product. Very proactive in trying to solve problems. Customer service is awesome, eye-opening, could give lessons to others. Follow directions for good compost and tea. Usually rolling barrel every 3 days does product good results.

Negative comments, problems with lid and lock, mentioned more than once. Rain water will fill base, composter heavy versus not heavy. Soggy compost even after adding brown material such as shredded newspaper, versus produces great compost. My plants and flowers are thriving.

Quick and Affordable Garden Clean-Up

Cost seems to the biggest factor here. However other things may impact decision to purchase these bags. Convenience, where you live, availability of stores. Worth the price! Several comments on durability, strength of bags, great for leaves, and also great for getting a large load of clothing to a thrift store, without dropping everything on the ground.

Impression was that purchaser would be getting “The Home Depot” bags and they did not. Received “Do It Best” bags and some did not like. Comments also made about the bags not being closed on the bottom. A glue problem?

Hiring a Service

When all else fails you can think about hiring a service to help with your fall clean up.Look online, in the newspaper and smaller papers for ads stating will do a fall clean up. Another possibility could be hiring a neighborhood teenager to help a couple of weekend to get the job done. Of course, again cost becomes a factor, so just making suggestions.

School Days, School Days

In the mid-west children are on their way back to school all ready. Bus stops that have been empty this summer were surrounded with children and parents all bright eyed and excited. Moms and Dads waving good bye as their young one went on their way.

Autumn and then winter will be here before we know it . What is your special secret to keeping your children excited and wanting to go to school? Here are couple of maybe unique ideas to help:

On week ends have the children help make special treats for each day after school, that only can be eaten on days when a good job has been done at school.

Let each child make a special jar, call it a savings jar, decorated by them. Put the jars away and bring out one day each week (selected by you). Let your child put some money in the jar if they were kind to someone they do not normally hang with. Save the money for a special outing. Should the child decide what the special outing will be ?

Motivate your child to want to go to school. Make the world of learning more fun and enjoyable.

Awesome Spring

Raining off and on for the past few weeks. Everything growing really fast and the colors are bright and pretty for the advent of this season.

Right outside our front door we have zinnia’s and hosta. Right behind the zinnias I noticed a nest with one large egg in it. Everyone told me do not touch the egg, if you do, the mother will notl come back to the nest. Well I have not touched and I don’t believe anyone else has. It been fun watching to see what happens.

We had four small bird houses on our tiny front stoop for decoration and just moved them to the back yard. It is time for a change of decoration. You are thinking so what do I care about all of this. It is my way of inspiring you to get organized for spring cleaning in your yard, flower beds and all the fun places that need sprucing up. Think about things like: is my all my yard equipment working and in good shape, do I need to fertilize, is my garden bed starting to shape up, how many flowers am I going to plant this year, how is my deck looking?

Yes, organize now, so you can go outside and enjoy the summer. Think of relaxing and being really pleased with how your yard looks. You can also think of all the exercise you are getting. Good for you. I am helping you get fit!! Maybe I can get some brownie points for encouragement.

10 Things That Create The Enchantment of The Holidays – updated from December 2018

Enchantment what an awesome word. Wish we could box it up and let everyone experience a bit of it. Here are some of my thoughts on that enchantment for the young and the old.

  • Big shining eyes of small children filled with wonder.
  • Magic of making holiday treats-frosting cookies, licking the frosting off your hands.
  • Making kieffles.  Those who have been around our family understand.  Handing down a tradition.
  • Decorating the tree and house- Being allowed to finally put ornaments on the tree yourself.
  • Fascination associated with believing. You hate see it leave.
  • Learning the true meaning of Christmas-the baby Jesus in the manager.
  • Secrets –being let in on a grown up secret and showing everyone you can keep a secret.
  • Wrapping gifts- having your own wrapping paper, tape, ribbon and tag. Carrying your present so proudly to put under the tree.
  • Company-waiting for grandparents, family and friends to come. Enjoying being at home and having fun.
  • Sharing – Taking dinner to someone who lives alone, sending cards, getting to make your own cards to mail, going through your clothes and toys and donating them to a thrift store.
  • Admiration, praise and respect for those in the military and their families.  Praying for all of them.

It really is a wonderful time of the year.  Especially if it snows right around Christmas.   Christmas Eve always looks so pretty and peaceful if it snows just before Santa comes.  Like a live picture card.  No  ice please.

Always will remember the year when my mother had redecorated the bathroom in pink and black.  I know, but it honestly looked pretty good.  She was a delightful lady.  Anyway I digress her Christmas present from our father that year was a brand new pink toilet seat, in its place of honor under the tree.  It brought smiles to all our faces for many a year.

Memories are such fun!  Happy Holidays to each and every one.#families#wonder#ornaments#wrappinggifts#wrappingbiggifts#donation.
