Stockings by the fireplace or where ever! Fill with love.

Stockings hung by the fireplace, stockings hung on the bedpost, stockings hung on a chair. Where they are hung and what they mean may differ in other areas of the world, but to a child they are part of the mystery associated with holidays and so much fun.

Stockings with Santa’s on them, or maybe angels, stockings with their face looking back at them. Stockings that have been knitted with care. Counted cross stockings that have taken hours, and hours to make. I have even seen stockings hung made with left over material from quilts, each piece of material a memory for a family member.

What kind of gifts to buy, inexpensive, but thought filled. Maybe stuffed with homemade items that bring back a special event for the person involved. Home made ornaments to put on the tree or a small scrapbook filled with wonderful enchanting pictures to be kept for years and years. Some different candy or cookies .

Pretty pair of tights, warm socks or a new pair of mittens. Walk the aisles of the stores and look for fun things that you can fill stockings with, without having to break your bank.

Enjoy the upcoming holidays. Plan now. Become crafty if you have to. I just made a hanging towel for the stove. Only jammed the sewing machine once and cut my hand, but the outcome is worth it . Towel is cute. More decorative, than for wiping hands on . Going to make a few more to share with others.

Hpe you had a fun fun fall break in your area. Comments appreciated. Follow me in this journey of blogging.

HALLOWEEN, keep your finger on the pulse of the holiday.

I don’t remember #HALLOWEEN being such a big deal as we were growing up.  All we thought about was all the candy we would get.  Never thought about our health or being afraid.

Who had the best #Halloween costume?

Who had the #best#halloween #costume?  Best Halloween costumes included the #prettiest Halloween costume, the #scariest Halloween costume, #vintage costume, #best hero costume and the most envied Halloween costume.  Of course no one wanted the prettiest girl in class to be the most beautiful or the football jock to be the one everyone sighed over.

Whose mother was the #mostcreativemother?

The most creative mother was the one who could make a #pretty#scary#funny#envied#hero costume out of nothing.  Spending very little money, but taking care of your child so they could be part of the fun.  A wonderfully creative mother is considered a real plus at times like this.

Safety first during these times.

#Safety is the number one concern for Halloween these days.  Always check into events being held in your #neighborhood#church#school.  Be sure a responsible adult is with your child when they are trick or treating.  Always check on what your teenagers are planning for that time, with whom and when.  Check the candy, fruit and other items in your child’s bag of goodies.    Enjoy but be safe.  Keep your finger on the pulse of the holiday.

Life is like a ski slope, sometimes you just go in the wrong direction.

Life is like a# ski slope, it has it’s ups and downs. Some times the ups are wonderful, sometimes they are just as upsetting as the downs. The first time you ride up in the# ski lift you are excited, scared, afraid of making a fool of yourself, but determined to ski down that slope.

I remember when one of our daughters was trying to learn to ski, she just could not master the pulley rope on the beginning slope. She just kept going back to the bottom. We all left her and she continued trying. By golly, late afternoon she finally made it to the top and all the workers came out and cheered her. She truly deserved that cheer. She never gave up.

Blogging is like that pulley rope giving us, ups and downs, It never gives up on us, but the critical key here is to keep trying. If your blog is slow, then figure out why it doesn’t become a snow board and take off. Take your blog apart piece by piece. What is my #niche? What don’t I truly understand and what can I do to better understand? Who really is my audience? It certainly is something most of us have to do.

You see where someone makes all find of money in such a short time, lets face it, we all say, why them and why not me? That is a good question. If you find the answer, please share. Keep trying, keep learning and keep having some fun .

Essential Oils and more big ideas, thoughts and plans for loving them.

Holidays coming think what are scents you enjoy the most and how can you use essential oils to make your home smell so enticing.

Many different diffusers available, that would be lovely, authentic, unusual in your living room or dining room to help you coming up with the beautiful scent.

Autumn almost here and the colors will be beautiful, fabulous and make you wish they would stay around. How about one of the Autumn essential oil scents in your home like Halloween, the scent of leaves, the smell of pumpkin. What about cinammon or hot chocolate.

Are you an outdoors person and even love hiking, camping and food cooking over a fire. There are essential oils, that will brings some memorable occasions back to you. Good or bad! Maybe not back but laughable.

Christmas another whole story with lots of of wonderful, memory arousing thoughts that can be achieved with essential oils and a diffuser.

Here are a few essential oils to think about:

Bergamot – light citrusy scent, Cardamon – member of ginger family and a spicy fragrance, Cinnamon bark – warm, spicy fragrance, Frankincense – just to remind you of Christmas, Juniper- which has the smell of the woods, and Idaho Balsam Fir- again a wood scent.

The saga of the new desk!

Friday, we went to look for a new desk for my husband, who had just been released from a rehab. facility. Found the desk he wanted and instead of ordering online, daughter Mary and I went back to the store and got the remaining one in stock.

Mary decided to put the one drawer file cabinet together that night. #Directions said read entirely, which she did and she laid out all the pieces , matching all the numbers. So many small pieces and screws. She did a great job and finished about 4 hours later. Totally exhausted.

Saturday morning, around 11am , Mary backed her car up to the garage, tore open the box, unloaded the pieces to the #desk with daughter Kathy helping. The living room floor had desk pieces every where. Kathy was then supposed to count all the pieces and make sure everything was there. She give up on that job and instead put together a decorative small wagon, I purchased a couple of months ago. Unfortunately it had awful directions, therefore it took two hours to put together. It looks so pretty on the front stoop with a bowl of red roses sitting in it. Our red roses.

Enters daughter Cindy, unsuspecting into the house, but bearing gifts of sweet corn and a nice ripe tomato. Yum ! Mary allowed Cindy to help her once she realized Cindy had done this before and could be trusted. At least 9 hours later, after putting pieces together upside down (as instructed) , bending over at least fifty times, laying on the floor to make sure all the screw were tightened, moaning with pain a few times, the desk was finished and very well put together.

The important things learned from this day, #working together is an art, reading directions (which were very well written) totally before starting is imperative, feeding those working an absolute necessity, and know you will still have a mess to clean up when everyone leaves. It is all about family and learning to accept help graciously.

Good place to mention Young Living Essential Oils, that will help with those aching muscles.

Moving furniture, the tense moments, the ingenious moments and then the genius moment.

Hectic last few weeks, but things are starting to fall into place. Needed to get a huge, very solid desk moved out of our television room. Sold it as we need to get a smaller piece of furniture into that space.

3 Adults and 2 very strong teen age boys all standing in the television room trying to figure out how the desk was originally gotten into the room. Remember son-in-law saying (9 years ago) this desk is never leaving this room, it will be sold with the house, when you decide to move. Planning on hopefully painting the television room next spring and he said paint around it! No one will move that desk to see if the wall was painted behind it!

Door taken off to the room. Hinges removed and finally the molding around the door way removed. Thank God the desk exited the room and was moved to the garage , just in time for the new owner to pick it up. He had actually thought he would put the desk on the seond floor at his home, but decided it would stay on the main floor after seeing it.

Moral of the story! Never buy a big study piece of furniture unless you have plenty of room to place the piece, an easy exit from the room, lots of friends or family that can help lift the furniture, lots of money that you can afford to pay someone to come and move it.

Thank you to everyone who helped!

Surprising cleaning with thieves! Essential oil infused household cleaner.

In a blog a few weeks ago we talked about wiping down our master bedroom closet with Thieves and what an outstanding job it did. No streaking, no strong smell, just nice, clean and fresh. Also talked about previously the unbelievable coffee stain on the carpet in my office. It was huge. Used Thieves on it twice andI had not paid much attention to it until just the other day and it is actually fading away. Another cleaning it should be gone Again thanks to Thieves.

Last week the rod on the kitchen window fell down and had to be repaired. It is now all repaired and I thought I need to clean the the blinds. They were very dirty. Sprayed thieves (30 parts water to 1 part cleaner) on the blind and begin to clean it slowly. Used a paper towel to clean off the dirt. They are starting to look wonderful. Doing it slowly as they were so bad.

Another idea for Thieves, at least in our home. Kept finding these small bugs that roll up in especially our bathroom. Used the Thieves mixture and sprayed around the edge of the room and they are gone. The house just seems to be getting cleaner all the time.

Thieves household cleaner Essential Oil infused Household cleaner. What a joy! Please read the directions listed on the cleaner.

Exploring the Numerous Possibilities

Ideas running around in your brain? Looking on the Internet, reading magazine articles, finding old recipes (cooking and otherwise) that have been passed down from generations ago. What can I do to share all this information.

What is your favorite thing or do you have many favorite things. The possibilities are never ending especially when dealing with essential oils. The education process involves reading and then reading some more. Are you up to that?

What about homemade or handmade? Created by you, or maybe you and your family. Think about things like home made bath soaps, body washes, perfumes, aromatic room sprays, aftershave lotion for men, lotions for dry skin or lotions for the skin that is aging . These are just a few possibilities.

Decide if you want to try something like this. Draft a good plan. Do your homework, by finding out what others are doing. What is succeeding and what is not. Consider the time required, the cost involved and any legal issues.

Awesome Spring

Raining off and on for the past few weeks. Everything growing really fast and the colors are bright and pretty for the advent of this season.

Right outside our front door we have zinnia’s and hosta. Right behind the zinnias I noticed a nest with one large egg in it. Everyone told me do not touch the egg, if you do, the mother will notl come back to the nest. Well I have not touched and I don’t believe anyone else has. It been fun watching to see what happens.

We had four small bird houses on our tiny front stoop for decoration and just moved them to the back yard. It is time for a change of decoration. You are thinking so what do I care about all of this. It is my way of inspiring you to get organized for spring cleaning in your yard, flower beds and all the fun places that need sprucing up. Think about things like: is my all my yard equipment working and in good shape, do I need to fertilize, is my garden bed starting to shape up, how many flowers am I going to plant this year, how is my deck looking?

Yes, organize now, so you can go outside and enjoy the summer. Think of relaxing and being really pleased with how your yard looks. You can also think of all the exercise you are getting. Good for you. I am helping you get fit!! Maybe I can get some brownie points for encouragement.
