Yes, Christmas is a wonderful time of year. It has it’s religious meaning for many and not so for others. It is a great time to give to others, remember others in our prayers and give extra if we can. Unfortunately, it is not possible to give , give and give.
Many times we give donations and get a thank you note back, nice, and before we even get that note filed away we have another request from the same charity. Such a waste , such a waste. There has to be another way. Maybe consolidation of some of the retirement facilities we have. I honestly don’t have the answer
I guess that decision has to be one of your choosing and if you want to give, and give that is your personal decision. It has become time for my husband and I to look carefully at what we give to and decide yay or nay.
We have always had a box, with index cards with the name of the charity at the top and the date we gave a donation. Time has come for us to look carefully at that box, continue to give, when we can and clean out the rest. It is with a very heavy heart that we are making that decision. Life however does change for all of us and honest use of our money, using a budget, and becoming fiscally honest is so important in this world. Young, old and middle aged.
