Fun, Family, Food and Football!

This last weekend was exactly that. Fun, family, food and football. Very busy but fullfilling. Thought I might just share with you all.

Late Friday our daughter Mary came from the South Bend area to spend the weekend with us. She went shopping and came back with all kinds of snacks for the football game and spent the rest of the time before the game fixing appetizers. They were delicious:

  • Sausages and Meatballs
  • Veggies – peppers of all colors
  • Celery, carrots and radishes
  • Dips and potato chips, tortilla chips and pretzels.

Daughter Kathy came to watch the game with her Dad. Oh I forgot to mention what game they were going to watch NOTRE DAME versus PURDUE. Husband graduated from Purdue but is a big big Notre Dame fan.

Son, Bill came over to see his sisters and visit for a while. Lots of talking , laughing among the siblings. He had to leave as they were going to have a September birthday celebration at his home. Makes good sense to celebrate September (any month’s birthday) as the families get older and everyone is so busy.

  • Monthly birthday parties, good idea.
  • Plan dates ahead
  • Family with the most birthdays in that month -host

Daughter Cindy and husband Dave stopped by so Cindy could help her father with a computer issue. We offered them food, but they were going on a date. A good idea after a hectic week.

  • Plan a date night with your spouse or significant other
  • Don’t just sit there if you go out to dinner. Take time to talk to each other and enjoy the company.

Sunday morning, grandaughter Josie and boyfriend Colin came for a late breakfast. Menu was scrambled eggs with cheese, fruit and coffee cake. They are trying to eat more healthy. Again we had a nice time and a good visit.

Granddaughter Mia and friend came to visit before heading back to college. Mia shaved her grandfather and that was fun to watch.

After all our visitor’s left you can be sure that we took a little snooze, watching football. Hope you all had a chance to relax and enjoy also.
