Impulsivity is such a great word to define things people sometime do and later wonder why did I do that? Why did I say that? Impulse? Why am I behaving in this manner? Impulsivity?
Definition of Impulsivity-The quality of being easily swayed by emotional or involuntary urges or by momentary desires, without weighing rationally- from Google.
Impulse-an arousing of the mind and spirit to some usually unpremeditated action- from Webster’s New American Dictionary 1995.
If you know of someone -adult, teenager or child who needs help in working on Impulsive behavior or Impulsive tendencies, you may want to note the following:
- Awareness of what seems to set these impulsive tendencies off. Track when you can, what seems to be a trigger?
- What triggers am I talking about such things as anger, feeling of needing to defend yourself, feeling overwhelmed, or overcome, others laughing and you feel they might be talking about you, buying on impulse.
- Bullying – this can be seen in children, teenagers, and adults. However the word bullying is used to define any and every circumstance in life.
- In my Etsy shop I just listed some signals, prompts, clues, and hints designed to help anyone wanting to focus on what is happening in front of them that may be pushing their buttons. Print these cards off on card stock, even laminate them so they will last. Carry in your lunch, a pencil case, inside a book or in your pocket.
