This is something that will put a smile on everyone’s faces. Decided I wanted to paint our brown wooden fence an off white to match the trim on the house, and make it look nice and pretty. Tried some of the paint behind our shed in the back yard last fall and it looked pretty good

When the fence was originally sprayed, it was a very breezy day, but my husband, son and son-in-law sprayed the fence holding a large sheet or painting drop cloth in front of them. it was a very interesting day, but the fence has looked good for many years now and I was ready for a change.

No spraying, No spraying. We were going to paint using small brushes and rollers to give it a really good extra thick first coat. That is how I wanted to do it and of course, everyone else said spray, spray, spray. Grandchildren helping when they could. Of course that hasn’t worked out too well, between their busy lives, jobs, out of town trip, memorial service and just life in general. Our daughter came from St. Louis to go to a LaCrosse tournament and she helped for a couple of hours yesterday and said, spray, spray. Still doing it my way.

Ok I thought I will just keep working on the fence myself, only a couple of hours a day. It has been very hot , so covered up with long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, socks and sneakers. Also hat on my head and sun block, as I sun burn very easily. Started itching very badly, and had big lumps on my legs and bruises because I scratched so much. Ended up on a steroid and an antibiotic. The doctor said did you use some bug spray? Duh, no!! Bites are getting much better, thank you.

Compromise- next summer when the fence needs touching up it will be sprayed! Job will be done much faster. Thought of Tom Sawyer, I believe having to white wash Aunt Polly’s fence, in the story by Mark Twain.

Hope I made some of you smile. It has made me think about how to work on my blog, more efficiently and look at my niche very seriously, and tackle some things, I have been hesitant to do. Improvements being made, but it takes time to teach some of us older ones. Come and share in enjoying what I have to offer. Be careful and be safe. Learn something new, it is never too late.

Grocery shopping and my rice pack!

My plan to start the week. Monday morning going to the grocey store. Made my list and thought ok, I will wear my mask and put on gloves, the thin ones that don’t make me look like I am from mars. Already have that look with not being able to go to the hair dresser.

7AM with my mask and gloves on, off I went to the store, list in hand. It took me an hour and a half to find everything I needed. The store was out of some things that I needed, but that was ok. They had alot of people stocking shelves. Then off to the check out, where I had to pack most of my own groceries. The cashier helped a bit and I was truly thankful. Then of course, I had to put everything in the car. Drive home and unload the car. Just had seen a video on wiping down everything you bring in from the store. Stop right here. Please God I am not wiping down everything. Got everything out their bags and put away. It seemed like forever. I am thinking curbside shopping here I come.

Treated myself to a good cup of coffee. Put my nice rice pack on my neck and right shoulder and relaxed. Those rice packs are wonderful and I just warm mine up in the microwave. They are so comforting when you have those aches and pains that bother us all at times.

For a long time I have thought that grocery shopping was a big job, but we have to have food, so I am not complaining, just expressing how I felt at that moment. Exhausted! Nap time was wonderful and I so much enjoyed mine. Again my rice pack felt so good. The one showing needs a little more rice in the ends, but I will take this one anytime. Want to know more about making rice packs send me your email and I will try and answer your questions. One Christmas helped grandchildren make them for their parents. That was interesting.

Hope you have/had a great day. Here are some things to consider doing, find a new book, a new author to read, do a craft, write a letter, send a card, say a prayer, call someone you have not talked with in a while, start getting pictures ready to start a scrapbook for your children, grandchildren. Looking at those pictures will put a smile on your face.

The beautiful flowers were from daughter Cindy and husband David for Easter! Beautiful and I look at them every day and smile.

Enjoy looking at my website. Don’t forget to read about my essential oils.
