Negativity, moving ahead to appreciate yourself.

The definition of negativity. is habitual skepticism. A skeptic is a person who questions or doubts something. A person who often questions or doubts things. If it is constant are your friends saying to you, why are you so negative? Maybe you don’t consider yourself negative, just a questioner.

How can you change? It is not easy for someone who has a negative, always questioning, sour look on life to change. Sometimes they really resent what other people say to them about changing. If you want to change you have to look at yourself

Do you find people are starting to avoid you? Is your personality bracing? Do you find negative statements come out of your mouth and you think now why did I say that. Negativity can be hurtful without your meaning it to be.

Here are some things you might want to try to change your attitude toward people in general:

Think before you speak!

Learn from others how to express yourself more positively.

Say a small prayer daily for some help in changing. Something like- Please help me today, Lord to say things in a more positive manner! I want to change, but need some help. Amen

Journal what happens as you travel the path toward positivity. Really use the journal. List the negativity you, yourself felt. Don’t sugar coat things. Add what to do differently in the future.

In social gatherings is there a dead silence af!ter you say something?

Appreciate yourself today and everyday written 10/22/20. Thought it might be useful here.

Waking up on a dark and gloomy day you are already wishing that the bright days of summer were still with us. It is raining also but that is ok as we really do need it. You cast your view around your home as you are getting ready for work and think, oh boy, oh boy, a fast pick might make you feel better. Then you think, oh well everything will be waiting patiently for me when I get home.

Your plan for the future ,work harder on getting really organized, so you can look in the mirror and say I am really going to work on this. You have this wonderful idea appreciate me now and every day. So how are you going to do that, think, think and then think some more. Look around you and start to plan. Maybe you could consider this a business plan for yourself. Consider yourself the business that you want to update, feel better about, be thought of as innovative, creative and charming.

Crafty! For the Holidays!

The above applies to any affiliate, I might have.

Almost six months to Christmas. That sounds so bad, but time is just flying by. It is not on cruise control.

Get crafty even if it is not something you do on a daily basis. Look in children’s magazines, craft books and books that read easy to do!! Why! Why would you want to do that? Because you want to save money on Holiday spending this year! So becoming more creative, crafy, and inspired with ideas may help you.

Your gifts don’t have to be huge just something done by family, or by the children or by you for someone special in your life. If you are a crafty person, use up some of the craft supplies you have left in your special room. You know the one where all your art and sewing, or crafty supplies are hiding.

Some thoughts to get you thinking :

If you are a knitter, what about mittens and scarves.

How about making a lid gripper. Get some shelf liner. Cut approxiately the size of a hot pad 6″ by 6″. Single crochet or double crochet around the edges and you have a lid gripper. They usually last 1-2 years and then the grip may not be quite as good. People love them and you can get as fancy as you want with them. Use multi-colored yarn to make the gripper prettier if you want.

Sewing, just a beginner no problem. Purchase some fabric with a holiday theme. A nice cotton fabric and plan on making a holiday tablecloth. Be sure you get enough fabric to cover your table and hem it. Do a double turn, (each turn about a 1/2inch, so the hem looks nice, and professional. Make a tablecloth for someone in your family who is always generous to you.

Use scraps of colored paper from your children’s craft projects. Make a kaleidoscope picture, add pictures of your children, and put into a unique frame. Such a wonderful gift. Keep your kaleidoscope picture, light and airy, not filled with dark ,dark colors.

Design an angel tree of some kind and let your children pick one of the names off of it and make some small gift for a sick friend, someone who lives alone or someone who has been very nice to your family.

Be crafty and be frugal this year. Next year you will want to have a budget in place to help you plan ahead. For now go to Selection’s from Barb’s Resource Library and enter HELEN. The library is found on the upper right side my website Selections from Barb. There is a budget there you may want to start practicing with.

Good luck and have lots of fun. Get those creative juices flying.

PARTY PLANNING!

We had a wonderful weekend at the first family reunion in over two years. We had all ages from 90 years old to 10 months.

The weather was beautiful, a little cool in the morning but it warmed up nicely during the day. There was food galore I mean everything . We had fried chicken, ham , all kinds of salads, bake beans, ham and bean soup, vegetables, fruit, all kinds of chips , and desserts. Plus cold drinks. Everyone of course bought a dish to pass

Our daughter and son in law bought a new home this last winter after living in the same house for thirty years. The new home is lovely and the property around it is beautiful. It is going to take them some time to figure out what flowers , plants, trees and shrubs they want to keep and what they want to get rid of. It is my understanding that the property was gorgeous this Spring with all the tulips in bloom. I’ll bet with all the trees ,Autumn and Christmas will be beautiful.

They have what is known as the John Deere Shed for our son in law. It was set up very nicely. He can sit there and relax. Our daughter has what is known as the MERRY, MERRY Shed. For Mother’s Day her husband hung her tiffany lamp they had bought from their old home. It looks lovely. She has many projects going on, including making fairy lamps. W

Food was excellent, ham, fried chicken, ham and bean soup, bake beans, salad of all kinds, chips of all flavors, you name it we had it. Dessert was a lovely cake made by our daughter Kathy and showed the new house and property. It was delicious.

We had so much fun watching everyone play the different games they had. Corn hoe, Chess, Frisbee, Croquet, and Lacrosse. In the evening we had a camp fire and everyone shared a memory that they had not shared before with most of the people. Fun! Fun! Two of our older grandchildren wrote a song for my husband and I. Good job!

Parties take a lot of work, as any hostess well knows . Organization, planning and replanning. There are lists everywhere. Lists of what needs done and what won’t get done. WHAT WON’T GET DONE. Very important and you need to be at peace with that list.

Hopefully the following list will help you when you are planning an event:

Determine date, time and place. Allow plenty of time for everyone to get the date on their calendar.

Send out texts, e-mails and special phone invites. Ask for a yes, no , maybe

Determine what you as host and hostess are going to buy and ask each family to let you know what they are bringing. Some people are excellent at this and other’s aren’t. Go with the flow.

Don’t forget the paper supplies needed and the coolers and ice for drinks.

Plan sleeping arrangements. Let everyone know what hotels, motels etc. are close to your home. Our son and his family slept outside in a big tent and two smaller ones. Cold , but they said they were warm in their sleeping bags. Heard coyotes!

Oh yes pray for good weather!

We really had a fantastic time and so enjoyed family and friends.
