Common sense! How will we as a society react to emerging from isolation?

It is 7AM here in good old Indiana. The weather professionals are predicting a fairly nice day for today and then back to rain for tomorrow. Spent the morning so far putting a picture in a frame that I have been meaning to do for months, wiping down the bathrooms and the kitchen hoping that we will continue to avoid getting hit with the #virus.

Being formally in the #health arena myself, I truly understand what a tough role our #health care professionals have trying to educate their patients and figuring out what is the right thing to do in giving good care. They need our prayers every day. They also go home very tired and have to learn to live with the decisions they make and discuss with #families who are also anxious.

Now that states are beginning to emerge into the business world again, I hope everyone is sensible and doesn’t overboard on going out into the big wide world without remembering to continue to follow some good guidelines. These we all know, but it can’t hurt to mention them again.

  • Do not go out publicly if you have a cold. Stay at home and #get well. I know no fun, but necessary.
  • Always #wash your hands. Can not tell you the number of people I have seen in restrooms who have not washed their hands. They even fix their hair, put on makeup and then some wash hands and some do not. Think about that. How clean is your face and your hair now? Heard that is even true in the men’s restrooms.
  • #Social distancing! Now that is a tough one, but doable. If we continue to try and work that out whenever we can perhaps that virus will not hit us again.
  • Remember to be #kind to others. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. Two neighbors recently told me, that if we needed any help to please let them know. We have both their telephone numbers. That is kindness.
  • Be sure and check on #family members. Even if it is a hi, how are you doing , love ya, take care.
  • Check with your physician about #flu shots and should you have one and when. Mark it on your calendar, put message in your phone. Do what you have to so you won’t forget.

Hope this gives someone food for thought! We all have good days and bad days. Work hard on trying to have more good days. Keep yourself busy. Tell yourself to smile.

Grocery shopping and my rice pack!

My plan to start the week. Monday morning going to the grocey store. Made my list and thought ok, I will wear my mask and put on gloves, the thin ones that don’t make me look like I am from mars. Already have that look with not being able to go to the hair dresser.

7AM with my mask and gloves on, off I went to the store, list in hand. It took me an hour and a half to find everything I needed. The store was out of some things that I needed, but that was ok. They had alot of people stocking shelves. Then off to the check out, where I had to pack most of my own groceries. The cashier helped a bit and I was truly thankful. Then of course, I had to put everything in the car. Drive home and unload the car. Just had seen a video on wiping down everything you bring in from the store. Stop right here. Please God I am not wiping down everything. Got everything out their bags and put away. It seemed like forever. I am thinking curbside shopping here I come.

Treated myself to a good cup of coffee. Put my nice rice pack on my neck and right shoulder and relaxed. Those rice packs are wonderful and I just warm mine up in the microwave. They are so comforting when you have those aches and pains that bother us all at times.

For a long time I have thought that grocery shopping was a big job, but we have to have food, so I am not complaining, just expressing how I felt at that moment. Exhausted! Nap time was wonderful and I so much enjoyed mine. Again my rice pack felt so good. The one showing needs a little more rice in the ends, but I will take this one anytime. Want to know more about making rice packs send me your email and I will try and answer your questions. One Christmas helped grandchildren make them for their parents. That was interesting.

Hope you have/had a great day. Here are some things to consider doing, find a new book, a new author to read, do a craft, write a letter, send a card, say a prayer, call someone you have not talked with in a while, start getting pictures ready to start a scrapbook for your children, grandchildren. Looking at those pictures will put a smile on your face.

The beautiful flowers were from daughter Cindy and husband David for Easter! Beautiful and I look at them every day and smile.

Enjoy looking at my website. Don’t forget to read about my essential oils.

Sewing machine! New, actually 6 months old now.

My last sewing machine was an Ulna and it was an extraordinary machine. I loved it and it was so good to me. It was almost 40 years old when it just gave up. I was hoping it would last longer. It journeyed with me through making many many things including jackets make from sweatshirts, and 19 quilts for grandchildren. Now please contain yourself, these quilts were near the size of a twin bed, not a full sized quilt. If you are interested in learning more about these quilts, under comments enter your email, asking for more informaiion. They are not normal quilts.

The new sewing machine! I have to admit it has been a bit of a learning curve for me. Mainly because I am left handed, very left handed and I had to learn to use my right hand a bit more than I anticipated. I am slowly adjusting. It is very light weight and so easy to carry in it’s case. So important as we age, because the lighter the better. Especially if you belong to a sewing group and want to bring your machine.

The machine has 60 built in stitches and came with a very detailed instruction booklet with lots of pictures explaining more of the detail needed. Since I am not a sophisticated sewer I did not want a machine that did everything, but cough, and cost so much I would feel guilty if I did not learn to use it properly. However I did want to learn more about sewing with knits and other types of fabric. Only time will tell how durable the machine will be.

I have so far made 20 decorative hang over the oven handle towels. I do mean decorative. They are just for show and the themes so far have been Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Still learning the proper finished up techniques. Also made a table runner out of scraps and a couple of table clothes.

Essential Oil recipes to try for headaches.

I can not take credit for these recipes for headaches. Passing along recipes for headaches found in various books for people to try.

Hoping that one of these recipes might benefit someone who suffers from headaches, that can be very incapicating. There are different kinds of headaches, cluster, sinus , migranes and the stress tension heache.

You have to know your own body and what the triggers are that set off your headaches and if one of them is a scent then you want to avoid that scent.

The benefits of the blends of essential oils may differ with each individual person. Some people get great relief and another individual might only get minimal relief. You need to remember to benefit from the use of essential oils you must use them. If the oils just sit there and look at you, how will you ever know what helps.

  • Tension headache – 10 drops peppermint, 10 drops eucalyptus, 20 drops of a carrier oil.
  • Migraine headache – 3 drops lavender, 4 drops roman chamomile, 1 oz carrier oil.
  • Sinus headaches – 4 drops spearmint, 4 drops eucalyptus , 1 oz carrier oil.

When using essential oils for the first time always do a skin test to make sure you do not develop a skin irritation .

Life, how interesting, strange at times, but interesting!

Life is interesting, sometimes challenging, but interesting most of the time. Of course you have to want it to be interesting. At my time of life I could be sitting abound feeling down in the dumps and doing nothing, but here I am learning to use my new sewing machine, writing a blog and learning , learning and learning.

We all have to determine what we consider interesting and I find a good way to do that right now is to observe the people on TV who are trying to bring us information on a daily basis. They report and our job is to sort out what is fact and what is not? What is relevant and what is not. Hard job for all of us. Harder still to keep our mouths closed if we really do not know what we are talking about.

Some thing else I have found to be interesting at this time, is guessing why some of the people I see are on the road. My reason for being on the road at 5:45AM is to get my husband to a treatment center for his appointment and picking him up, later in the morning. I always hope the people out and about are in essential jobs and then I wonder what some people consider essential.

Just my thoughts. Be safe! Don’t forget to check out Young Living essential oils, listed below.

Mother’s Day, are you wondering what will be happening? I am!

Honestly believe both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day should be remembered in some way. I don’t mean run out and buy a lavish gift, that you can ill afford. No, I am talking more about memories of some kind, maybe an item that the family could go in on together Something that does not overwhelm the budget.

I have spent Mother’s Day and also Father’s Day alone in the past, because we always had jobs where one or the other of us had to work. We did not call off because that was not our nature. Rotation of weekends and holidays was normal. Social Distancing is still with us this Easter and everyone needs to step up to the plate and remember that. Party’s can be planned for later.

Anyway I digress. Back to affordable gifts What about nice handmade cards? What about a nice family breakfast after Church? Even if church is online. A breakfast where everyone is up and smiling. Smiles mean so much. What about I owe you 10 sessions of lawn mowing over the next 10 weeks.

Here are some good ideas from Amazon one more appropriate for mom. Maybe you can look around and find a nice hat for dad also. Storage for deck, both would like.
