Peppermint Essential Oil

Reflecting today on the benefits I personally have experienced from an essential oil.

Easter Sunday a busy day, fun day for the children and a wonderful season for Christians.

Started experiencing problems with walking and thought oh boy, here we go, hip issues.  Pain located in my groin area and it was rather intense.  Experimented with different ways of walking.  My thinking, take the weight off  the bad leg and I have less chance of falling.

Got out my essential oils books and looked to see what might help!  Low and behold Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita). Can be used to help with muscle and bone issues.  So I thought I would give it a try.   Have been using for a week now and pain is almost non existent.  So hopefully this relief of pain when walking will continue.  I am going to try a blend next and I will let you know what happens.

What does the word poor mean to your family!

Here we are almost to June and reflecting on how your family would define poor!

Rewriting this blog as I felt it needed updating from January.   Sometimes poor is a state of mind and other times we just don’t know how to manage our lives. How to say no!  We slide from one mess to another instead of taking time to focus on cleaning up one mess, before getting into another one.  Some families give the appearance, as do their children of being very wealthy, when they are living off credit cards, owe everyone, are scared to death of what the next day is going to bring.

Remind your children, grandchildren, stepchildren,  what they have to be really grateful about such as:

Love from parents grandparents . May not always show it, but it is there.

A family that stays together, even when the going gets so tough.

A chance to pray! Reflect! Meditate.

A roof over their heads.  Utilities that are paid so you have heat in the winter, and are able to be cool in the summer.

A chance to save if you have a job.  Get a savings plan started so you will feel rich when you see how it has grown.

Food on the table.

Pets and more pets and then more pets.

Clothing, maybe not the most expensive, but why would you want expensive anyway, in a couple of months you will have grown and need new outfits.

Friends who are allowed to come to your house.

With summer fast approaching we need  to remind our children to get outside and play.  Exercise, ride bicycles, help with laundry, keep the house clean  or help work in the yard.

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day will be here before we know it  Everyone is trying to make it a special day, but my question to you is how are parents treated the rest of the time?  Not everyone is a bad parent!

Good! Bad! Indifferent?  With respect or not.  Parents have a job to learn just like the rest of the world and it is not always easy. They are not supposed to be a friend.  Think about it.  Who is there for you when an emergency room visit has to be made?  Who is there for you when the teacher has to share a bad event?  Who sits up or stays awake at night until they know you are safely in the house? Who is out looking for you when there is no answer on your phone?  There are numerous other situations I could list here having been there myself.  It’s called being a parent.  It doesn’t mean they don’t love you, again it called being a parent.

Problem is that many times there are events happening in a family that bring out the worst in family members. Tempers are on short string.  Angry things are said and feelings are hurt.  That means changes have to be made and that is always difficult.  Logically it is like putting together a puzzle once piece at a time and re-adjusting of pieces may have to be done.  There has to be respect. There has to be discipline.

Oh, I know what you are thinking, we have heard all of this before.  Then everyone, adult children living at home, teenagers, middle school children and the young in the family are not pulling together to change.   Does everyone think before they speak?  I say pick your battles carefully.   Stop feeling sorry for yourself!   Remember who the parents are.  Respect everyone, but that respect must be earned and mutual.  That is a full time job in itself.

Who manages your pain?

Are you aware that one day you will have to make a decision regarding who is your pain doctor? With the changes in the laws and the Opiod crisis, this is a must.

My husband and I take very little in the way of pain medication.  Me, none, but my  husband does takes a pain med for his back pain.  These he takes infrequently but has to get them from the physician who is treating his back.   Not from our internal medication physician.   We did not fully understand this at first, but now we do. You can not get pain medication from one physician one time and from another physician the next time.  Even if you do not take very often.

It is important that you and your physician are on the same page.  Physicians are trying to educate their patients, but we some times only hear what we want to hear.  Ask questions, be informed.   Be aware of what is going on in the state where you live.

Plan! Plan! What plan you ask?

Your plan to try and stay healthy.  It should be a goal for all of us.

Did not say it would be easy.  If it was easy everyone would jump on the special diet or fitness fad right away.  People are looking for the quickest way to do something, whether it is right or wrong.  It is like writing a blog, we all want instant success.  Life doesn’t happen that way and if anyone tells you otherwise they are pulling your leg.

Do have a plan of action! For what you say!  Losing weight.   Start small with little steps in the right direction.  Your physician says lose weight and you think of course. Many people just think that and never do anything about it.  Plan! Weigh yourself!   What is going to be your 1st goal?  Decide and put it into action.  It could be:

Smaller portions at meals.

Drink more water

Help plan meals, so you are aware of your choices.

Be more active on your off work time.  Tired!  Of course you are.

3 weeks add another goal, related to your 1st goal and related to weight loss.  Keep a journal on what you are doing.  Be sure and weigh yourself, before you add that new goal.  Remember#motivation#patience#honesty.

Essential Oils!  Two definitions and suggestions for you. What research would benefit you?

As I continue to educate myself, I have found many articles on essential oils.  Some I have really enjoyed and you can tell the blog writer has done their research.

My question to you at this point, is what problem/problems do you have that you think would benefit from essential oils? What I am reading so far is that there are several essential oils for some problems such as aches & pains, inflammation, minor infections, sleeplessness, stress and maintain a calming disposition.  Other problems related to the nervous system, circulatory system and respiratory system the oil selection seem to slim down.  So my research will continue.

Here are a couple of definitions and suggestions for you:

Adulterated – Watered down!  Need to watch as the oil could be advertised as pure.  Adulterated oil mixed with synthetic extender, can cause a skin irritation, rash or a burn. Pure essential oils used incorrectly can cause skin irritations.

Beware of opened oils or if you are shopping in store, oils that look like they maybe have been around for a while.

Carrier oils- are oils, not cooking oils, added to dilute certain essentials oils to avoid irritation to the skin.  There are several carrier oils you can try.  Some are j

***Be very careful using applying some oils and going out in the sun.  Research this with wisdom as summer is fast approaching.  Remember store oils in a dark, cool place.

Have ordered some new oils for myself to try.  Helichrysum and Rose.  Will let you know what I come up with.

Fashion-Shein! A big thank you

Want to thank whoever has updated the ads coming out of Shein.  They took a chance on me less than a year ago and let me become an affiliate.  I knew absolutely nothing about affiliate marketing, but I was willing to learn.  That I continue to do.

One of my most important sites is Pinterest.  I work hard at maintaining my numbers on Pinterest.  Finding Shein pins was tough.   One thing I noticed was that the pins from Shein never seemed to change, with nothing new and exciting to show.

Viola!  In this past week or so, a big change!  New pins to view.   Lots of new pins to view.  It has been fun looking for Shein pins and noticing all the great things going on.   Vibrant new color in their ads.  Nice summer dresses, bathing suits to share and I believe I saw plus sizes.

I have grand daughters and can now say to them- you should see what Shein has.  I hope you will also want to see.   Join in the summer fun!

Construction! Look and see.

Construction of my blog site.    A challenge for me, but with the help of my grandson, Will we are updating my site.  He has such good ideas.  We don’t always agree, but that is ok.  Two different generations sharing ideas.

Goal is to encourage more interest in my blog.   If  I don’t reach that goal, please let me know if you have some fascinating insight.   Leave me  a comment and a way to reach you.

Aching, painful knees become part of your daily routine?

Week after week this one pin shows up as the most clicked on pin on my Pinterest site.  Obviously a lot of people suffer from # knee pain and would like to know the cause or the cure.

My own knees have been acting up this last week or so and I attribute it to the #weight I have gained. So my job is to lose weight, so my knees hopefully will not hurt.  This is a task that I am not looking forward to. Losing weight, has never been quick/easy for me, but with all the information out on the internet, on Pinterest and on TV, it should happen just with the drop of your/my hat.

We, my husband and I are trying hard to watch what we are eating.  Here are some of the things we are trying to do:

  1. Eat breakfast – especially me as I do not always eat breakfast.
  2. Eating fish of some type at least twice a week.
  3. Drink more water. Drinking water is sometimes very difficult, especially if you want to drink coffee or soda.
  4. Portions- #eatsmallerportions. Not doing well with this one yet.
  5. Exercise- The best I can do at this point is really walk around the grocery store at a good clip. Be sure you/I have a list.  Stay away from the indulgent items.  The other thing I felt benefited me this week was cleaning the house.  Again I moved really swiftly.  Walking outside coming.

Don’t know if I have lost any weight yet, but the knees are feeling a little better.  Will be working with my Young Living Essential Oils to determine what oils could benefit me there.  One day at a time has become my motto.#kneepain#weight#eatsmallerportions.
